Alkaloids Extraction And Aisolated Of Bioactive Compounds From Crinum Latifolium Leaves
Abstract
The aim of this project is to study about the extraction and isolation of alkloids
and anticancer evaluation from Crinum latifolium in Vietnam. Three compounds
including CL-CB0 (2.95g), CL-CA02 (0.0263g) and CL-CD0 (0.5149g) were isolated
from the Crinum latifolium leaves by Medium pressure liquid chromatography (MPLC).
Sulforhodamine B colorimetric assay (SRB assay) was performed to evaluate the
inhibitory activity against MCF-7 cells growth. The total alkaloids extract exhibited
higher cytotoxicity against MCF-7 cell line growth at screening concentration
(percentage inhibition of 45.82±3.51 at 100 µg/mL) than three isolated compounds
CL-CB0, CL-CA02 and CL-CD0 (percentage inhibition of 39.67±6.44%, 43.03±6.27%
and 43.54±4.34% at 100µg/mL, respectively). Moreover, Crinamidine is an
anticancer agent based on prevously reported studies. During this projects,
crinamidine was also detected contains in Crinum latifolium leaves but it had not been
completely isolated so it was not performed for testing anticancer. In conclusion, this
study would serve as a foundation to the research in the future about the anticancer
activity of the alkaloid compounds from Crinum latifolium and the application in
medical and pharmaceutical industry.
