Preliminary Investigation For Phytochemical Compounds And Antioxidant Of Cordyceps Militaris From Vietnam
Abstract
Cordyceps Militaris has great potential as it can shed light on the common belief as
traditional medicines which contains a variety of potential pharmaceutical properties. The
present study aimed to compare phenolic compound and antioxidant of Cordyceps
Militaris in three different solvents: Distilled water 100°C and 70°C, and ethanol 35°C.
As for the method, 1 dried sample was extracted with 20 ml solvent (1:20) by using
traditional method and speed extractor machine. The phenolic compound was investigated
by The Folin-Ciocalteu method (TPC) and Quercetin (TFC). DPPH (1- diphenyl-2-
picrylhydrazyl) was used to identify the antioxidant capacity. Cordycepin and adenosine
content was determined by HPLC. As a result, the sample extracted with DW 70°C was
the highest TPC and % DPPH inhibition was 12.9547 ± 0.4211 mg GAE /g and IC50 =
4.08 mg/g, while that with 100°C was the highest TFC, standing at 41.6476 ± 19.6898 mg
QE /g. Sample extracted with 100°C was found that 2.04 mg/g cordycepin and 0.10
adenosine. Finally, Cordyceps were proposed as potential antioxidant properties by using
distilled water extraction and speed extractor. However, due to some problems related to
technique, source of materials, condition, and temperature, the results were not as good as
expected.
