Abstract
The purpose of this research aims to figure out the structural relationships among students’
performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, hedonic motivation, and facilitating
conditions on intention to use YouTube for learning English in Ho Chi Minh International
University, based on Venkatesh et al., (2012) extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of
Technology (UTAUT2). The subjects of this research were all students taking classes in Ho Chi
Minh International University that have used YouTube for learning English. Data was collected
through the web-page questionnaire survey with 280 valid responses. This study approached a
quantitative research method, and the hypotheses were tested by Cronbach’s Alpha, Exploratory
Factor Analysis (EFA), and Linear Regression. The outcomes demonstrated the significant
influences between all determinants and behavioral intention to use YouTube for learning English.
Moreover, the outcomes suggested some empirical comprehension of how social media might
assist and improve the students’ English learning purpose which would support students to retrieve
of English skills and resolve their English problems. This study will further enhance the growth of
educational institution in creating the attractive and innovative academic English contents by
contributing a specific perspective of the value of students’ intention to use social media for
learning English in Ho Chi Minh city particularly and in Vietnam generally.
