dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this thesis is to clarify the gap in understanding the relationship
between a PM and an ERP project by determining an ERP project success, required soft
and hard skills for PMs, biggest problems of an ERP project, and the impact of skills on
both problems and success, and finally, the impact of MBTI personality on the success. To
reach the established targets, qualitative research using in-depth interviews, combining
with MBTI personality assessment, was conducted on a case of an ERP solution startup in
Ho Chi Minh city. The data was collected from 4 different project managers, 3 business
analysts, 3 testers and 2 developers, and 4 clients. The result showed that an ERP project
success can be determined through different criteria, based on the characteristics of the
project. There are 11 major skills required for managing an ERP project, including 4 soft
skills and 7 hard skills. During the management, biggest problems of PMs are product
problems, external problems and internal problems, which can be solved using some soft
and hard skills among the required skills. For the impact of skills, all required skills can
have different influence on the success criteria. Meanwhile, four MBTI types, including
ENFJ, ISTJ, INFJ and INFP, have clear impact on the scope, the time and the team member
satisfaction criteria. The results of the study can supplement the existing literatures on ERP
projects, while contributing to the development of ERP companies and ERP project
managers’ career path. | en_US |
