Personality Traits As The Antecedents Of Investment Behavior In Cryptocurrencies - Vietnam
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to understand the correlation between two large
groups of personality traits, dark personality and big five personality, whether they
positively or negatively affect FOMO behavior when investing in the Vietnamese
cryptocurrency market. Through this research, investors have a more objective
understanding of the cryptocurrency market in Vietnam, the development of the market
and deviant behavior in the market - FOMO behavior. The dark trait possesses three
variables, which are Machiavellianism, Narcissism and Psychopathy. Meanwhile, the
Big Five Personality participates with five independent variables, namely
Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism and Openness.
The author collected 323 survey samples through google forms on social
networking platforms. After being collected, the survey sample will be processed
through SPSS version 26 software, with 8 independent variables, 1 dependent variable
and a total of 38 items in the survey process. The researcher uses several statistical
techniques, such as demographic analysis, descriptive statistics, reliability statistics
with Cronbach's alpha, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), correlation analysis, and
regression analysis, to assess the hypothesis. The results obtained were 7 accepted
variables and 1 rejected variable, Psychopath. The study provides premises to help
investors be more wise in participating in the crypto market in Vietnam.
