dc.description.abstractThe practical advantages of filter paper in storing dried blood lead to a requirement of effective DNA extraction method. Our study provides a developed two-step lysis method for extraction of genomic DNA from dried blood spot on filter paper. The method was evaluated against the commonly used QIAamp® DNA Mini Kit. The amount of extracted DNA by our method is much higher than that one extracted by QIAamp® DNA Mini Kit. For polymerase chain reaction detection of exon 2 of G6PD gene, our product gives same sensitive as QIAamp® DNA Mini Kit product. This simple, inexpensive extraction method generated superior results from archived specimens compared with QIAamp® DNA Mini Kit and may represent a useful tool in molecular analysis study.en_US
