Investigating the efficiency of the Vietnamese six socio-economic regions education system with dea approach
Abstract
Education plays an essential role in human capital, economic growth, and
social development. One of the important components of human capital investment in
children is household educational expenditure. In Vietnam, the rising expenditure, and
the high willingness to invest in children's education have attracted much attention,
raising the need to measure the efficiency of family educational spending. Using the
Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach, this paper assesses the spending
efficiency of the six Vietnamese socio-economic regions. The ground for input and
output selection for the DEA method are selected based on prior education research
papers. The two models designed for efficiency analysis address the tertiary level and
professional training level (i.e. vocational education, college, university and upper).
The paper's results reveal how efficient a region converts household educational
spending into achievements.
