How Entrepreneurial Motivation And Venturing Self-Efficacy Induce Entrepreneurial Intention Among Engineering Students?
Abstract
In recent years, entrepreneurship study has drawn more attention from
academics and decision-makers due to its critical role in fostering economic growth and
providing innovative solutions to some challenging societal issues. To observe
entrepreneurial intention among engineering students, this study utilized two
underpinning theories (e.g., the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Entrepreneurial
Event Model) to investigate triangular relationships among three entrepreneurial
motivation (e.g., motivation for creation and solution, motivation for personal interest,
managerial motivation), venturing self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial intention. Partial
least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used for theoretical
estimation with sample size of 443 valid cases answered by engineering students. It
found that motivation for creation and solution, and managerial motivation were
significant drivers of venturing self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention; in addition
venturing self-efficacy had a significantly positive impact on entrepreneurial intention.
It may enhance current understanding on entrepreneurial motivation, venturing self efficacy and entrepreneurial intention; and provide practical implications to foster
entrepreneurial spirit among engineering students.
