Digital Transformation In Vietnamese Smes: The Perception Of Top Management
Abstract
The contemporary and varied global business environment provides opportunities
for organizations seeking innovative methods to outperform competitors and enhance
customer value. Furthermore, the digital revolution has the potential to significantly impact
small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam. By integrating digital
technologies and approaches, SMEs can transform their operations, expand into new
markets, enhance customer engagement, and drive innovation. This research examines the
viewpoints of top management on digital transformation within Vietnamese SMEs through
17 in-depth interviews. The study's results offer practical insights for companies navigating
the changing digital landscape. As businesses strive to adjust to shifting market conditions,
the necessity of ongoing transformation becomes apparent. For SME leaders initiating
digital transformation initiatives or addressing unsatisfactory past results, the study
delivers valuable recommendations to address obstacles and achieve successful
transformation. As firms encounter challenges in updating current management
frameworks, fostering an innovative and adaptable culture at the leadership level is crucial
for sustainable digital progress and a competitive edge. The participation of top managers
enhanced the resource-based view by shedding light on how leadership understands and
fosters effective digital transformation in this swiftly evolving environment. This study
makes a substantial contribution to the domains of leadership, business strategies, and
organizational development by offering insight into the prospective possibilities and
authentic challenges that would be encountered when implementing digital transformation
in businesses.
