The production and distribution of fresh fruits in Vietnam, particularly durians, are significantly influenced by geographical and climatic conditions, leading to regional and seasonal variations. This study addresses the logistical challenges faced by durian farmers in Cam My, Dong Nai Province, where the high demand for durians in northern Vietnam requires efficient long-distance transportation solutions. The current reliance on road transport results in high logistics costs and extended delivery times. To mitigate these issues, this research explores the use of multimodal transportation to optimize cost and efficiency. A Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model was developed to identify the optimal warehouse location and the most cost-effective multimodal transportation routes. Additionally, the study examines the effectiveness of Greedy, Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) methods in solving the Location Routing Problem (LRP) on a multimodal transportation network. The findings indicate that multimodal transportation can significantly reduce logistics costs and improve delivery efficiency. The remarkable efficiency of heuristics and meta heuristics applied to this problem is also highlighted. Future research should consider more complex LRP configurations, incorporate dynamic demand scenarios, and explore additional transportation modes, such as river transport, to further enhance the logistics networken_US
