Route Optimization In Delivery Networks Based On A Genetic Algorithm And Milp Approach: A Case Of Best Express
Abstract
This study explores workload optimization and production planning in make-to-order
(MTO) manufacturing, focusing on the custom furniture industry. It tackles the
challenges of managing highly customized orders and efficiently using resources.
Employing Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) and Tabu Search metaheuristics,
the research develops a mathematical model tested through a case study at AA
Corporation. The results reveal improved order rejection rates, reduced lead times, and
enhanced resource utilization, demonstrating the effectiveness of integrating production
scheduling with order acceptance decisions. This study contributes to operations
management by providing a flexible framework for MTO environments and suggests
further exploration into dynamic order processing and advanced metaheuristic
techniques
