The study investigates the efficiency of the extract obtained from Houttuynia Cordata Thunb leaves under different conditions and evaluates its phytochemical, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties using Sonication for Serum Formulation. The results indicate that ethanol solvent, coupled with sonication and a rotary evaporator at various temperatures (30°C, 50°C, and 70°C), yields the most efficient extraction at 50°C. Total phenolic contents at these temperatures range from 13.50 ± 0.015 to 39.99 ± 0.030 mg GAE/g extract, with the highest level observed at 70°C. Conversely, total flavonoid contents are lower than total phenolic contents, ranging from 10.92 ± 0.015 to 17.25 ± 0.010 mg QE/g extract at 30°C, 50°C, and 70°C, respectively. The extract demonstrates moderate antioxidant activity, with an IC50 value of 45.43 mg/ml, compared to the control sample of Ascorbic Acid (IC50 = 3.2 mg/ml) under various experimental concentrations. Additionally, it exhibits moderate resistance against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa under experimental conditions. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis reveals the presence of Rutin, Quercetin, and Chlorogenic Acid compounds, while Kaempferol and Vitexin are not detected in the Houttuynia Cordata extract. In the antimicrobial assay, inhibition zones are observed at 10 ± 0.2 mm for Escherichia coli, 6.0 ± 0.0 mm for Staphylococcus aureus, and 13.0 ± 0.2 mm for Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) concentrations vary, ranging from 0.5 μg/ml to 12.5 mg/ml, with the lowest MIC value of 7.5 observed for the sample at 70°C against Escherichia coli bacteria. The pH of the preparation is tested and found to be approximately 6.69 to 7.0, suitable for skin application. Overall, the total phenolic and flavonoid contents, along with the high antioxidant capacity of the extract, provide supportive evidence for further research on the potential application of Houttuynia Cordata in cosmetic products.en_US
