Determinants of life satisfaction and country loyalty among Korean residents in Vietnam - Focus on culture and career engagement
Abstract
With the continuing globalization of the expatriates, it is critical to understand
why some people excel in inter-cultural contexts to develop their career path. The study
investigated the determinants of life satisfaction and country loyalty towards Korean
residents having life in Ho Chi Minh City and these determinants were related to culture
and career engagement. The study conducted the mass survey in the quantitative research
approach and collected 193 valid cases for data analysis. The data analysis was
implemented in Smart-PLS statistical program with Partial Least Squares Structural
Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). It found that cognitive cultural intelligence had a
significantly positive impact on career engagement; cognitive cultural intelligence had a
significantly positive impact on life satisfaction; career engagement had a considerably
positive influence on life satisfaction. The measuring of moderating effects revealed that
social injustice had a significantly on the causal relationship between cognitive cultural
intelligence and career engagement. The study may send theoretical contribution and
practical implications.
