dc.description.abstract | It is no doubt the fact that public sector is successful when organizations
prioritize human resource matters. Thus, many countries make huge investment in
improving employee performance in the public sector, and it has no exception for Vietnam,
particularly, Ho Chi Minh city. To improve employee performance, it is necessary to
understand which factors impacting employee performance. The purpose of this research
is to investigate whether factors including the recruitment and selection process, working
environment, leadership, training and development, organizational culture, reward
management influence employee performance or not. Then, it showed the degree of
influence of factors toward employee performance and gave some recommendations to
improve employee performance.
The quantitative approach was utilized. The target population is civil servants,
cadres, and officials working public sector in Ho Chi Minh city. The research collected 256
valid surveys in a total of 309 distributed surveys and raw data was analyzed by SPSS
version 20. The findings revealed that the recruitment and selection process, leadership,
organizational culture, reward management have significant and positive impacts on
employee performance. Nevertheless, working environment and training and development
do not affect employee performance. Among influencing factors, reward management
plays the most crucial factor on employee performance, followed by organizational culture,
the recruitment and selection process, and leadership. Based on the conclusion made, the
researcher gives recommendations to boost employees’ performance. | en_US |
