Abstract
The study "The impact of Charismatic leadership on Employee engagement"
was implemented to measure the impact of the Charismatic leadership’s behavioral
characteristic on Employee engagement in Vietnamese enterprises. The research model
consists of 5 components and 6 hypotheses developed on the basis of the theory and
previous studies regarding Charismatic leadership and Employee engagement. The
research uses quantitative method to test the hypotheses and model, with a sample of 290
employees working full-time and part-time in Danang and Hochiminh City. After the
process of reliability testing and factor analysis, Charismatic leadership scale consists of
3 components with 13 variables, and Employee engagement scale includes 2 components:
Cognitive engagement and emotional engagement with 9 observed variables. The results
of hypothesis testing also showed that 3 components: (1) Envisioning, (2) Empowerment,
(3) Empathy positively impact both components of Employee engagement. Practically,
the study will help leaders know thoroughly the relationship between the behaviors of
leaders and employee engagement, at the same time understand the expectations of
employees. As a result, managers offer self-development orientation, as well as selection
and training solutions for businesses, thereby improving the comprehensive working
environment for employees to enhance Employee engagement in the condition of limited
resources, while also creating a competitive advantage in human resources for businesses
in the current competitive environment.
