The influence of organizational culture on employee commitment - Case study in Sai Gon food jont stock company
Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the influence of organizational culture factors on
employees‗ organizational commitment. The organizational culture that claims in this
research was consist of five dimensions which are Leadership style, Environment, Policies,
Values and Artifacts of SFC in Ho Chi Minh City. In thisregard, the components of
organizational culture as the independent variable were derived from Ghina's model (2012)
and the relationship between two kinds of variables wastested through Pierson correlation
testing. The results from the study proved that there was a significant relationship between
four components of organizational culture (communication, teamwork, rewards &
recognition and training & development) and employee‗s commitment to organizational
culture.Interviewing in-depth after discusing in this field as well as components of
organizational culture, there are two more factors would be added: Values and artifacts.
The result from interviewing Deputy Managing Director, Mrs. Thanh Lam stated that the
main strength of the company comes from its qualified workforce due to the highest
commitment in this field. Then, Linear Regression test indicated that Policies, Leadership
style, Values, Artifacts have significant positive impacts on Organizational Commitment.
Specifically, Policies (Rewards and Training) are found to have strongest relationship with
Organizational Commitment because the company created plenty of chances for employees
to be recognized in their jobs. Moreover, the policies factor has the strongest effect on
employee commitment. This is the same results with some previous research of Shamsul
&Drnorlia, 2012 and Ooi Keng Boon &Veeri Arumugam, 2006.
As the results, it is recommended for the company to continue improving its strategies to
make employees engage more in their jobs. Besides, more rewards with bigger values
should be given to employees with good commitment.
The author also has some suggestions for future study of related topic.
