Factors influencing street food consumption in Ho Chi Minh City
Abstract
Street food is one of the food sources of Ho Chi Minh City. The purpose of this research
is to find out factors that affect the street food consumption in Ho Chi Minh City, and then seven
factors from in-depth interviews will be tested whether they have any effects on consumption
namely Price, Place, Situation, Diversity, Curiosity, People Interaction and Convenience.
Primary data was gathered through in-depth interview and questionnaires. The
questionnaires data was statistically analyzed with SPSS 20.0.
The result from interviews stated that the main strength of the street food in Ho Chi Minh
City. Then, Linear Regression test indicated that only Situation, Curiosity and Convenience have
significant positive impacts on Ho Chi Minh City street food. Specifically, Convenience is found
to have strongest relationship with Consumption.
As the results, it is recommended for the vendors to create strategies to improving
consumption more in their market.
