Challenges in developing sust ainable social enterprises - A case study of vocational training enterprises in Ho Chi Minh city
Abstract
The concept of social enterprise has been widespread around the world and now become a significant social movement in Vietnam. Among various sectors that social enterprises are contributing, vocational training sector is one of the most prominent field. The research has explored the social enterprises in ‘the field’ by interviewing many vocational training entrepreneurs. Networking and Leadership of Social Entrepreneurs are key points that help VTEs overcome difficulties and sustain.
In this thesis, a cross-case analysis of five social enterprises operating in the vocational training sector is conducted to evaluate sustainable theory and practice. Sustainable development basically meets 3 dimensions – environmental sustainability, social sustainability and economic sustainability. 4 main challenges in developing sustainable social enterprises are explored, including challenges in Financial Resources, Human Resources, Market and Social Awareness to show opportunities recognition for those entrepreneurs to consider to sustainably develop their social enterprises in the future.
