dc.description.abstractEmployee is a blood stream of any business. The accomplishment or failure of the firm depends on its employee performance. Hence, top management realized the importance of investing training and development for the sake of improving employee performance. This research aims at researching the effect of training on employee performance and at providing suggestion as to how firm can improve its employee performance through effective training programs. Training helps people to learn how to be more effective at work by modifying knowledge, skills or attitudes through learning experience to achieve effective performance. Human resource theory supports the significance of training in which it is considered as one of the processes in achieving organizational goals by attracting and maintaining employees, and also managing them effectively. Prior studies suggested that training is a significant predictor of employee’s work commitment and performance. Results of prior empirical studies also suggested that training comprised four dimensions namely training commitment, training needs assessment, training contents and delivery approaches, and training evaluation. This research attempts to contribute an additional empirical evidence on the influence of training on employee’s performance. In particular, this research examines the role of training in determining the employee’s performance in HCMC. Three hundred and fifty (350) employees in HCMC were surveyed for this purpose. The results of this research revealed that training commitment, training needs assessment, training contents and delivery approaches, and training evaluation influence the employee performance. Training commitment and training evaluation were found to be more important dimensions of training in affecting employee performance.en_US
