dc.description.abstract | Environmental concerns are always a pressing issue regardless of any industry.
Among them, the hotel industry is known for its heavy resource consumption and the
generation of significant waste and pollution. Not to mention the impact on the community,
the environmental performance of hotel firms is seriously affected. Thus, research in this
area serves as valuable empirical evidence to uncover the driving forces behind
environmental performance and propose suitable solutions for the specific conditions of
the hotel industry in Vietnam. This study focuses on the correlation between green human
resource management (GHRM) and environmental performance (ENP), including the
influence of green innovation (GI) and green employee behavior (GEB) by employing
Resource-Based View, Stakeholder, Social Exchange, and Ability-Opportunity-Motivation
theories.
Design/Methodology/Approach: The study employs a quantitative methodology
by distributing an online questionnaire to employees working in hotel firms located in Ho
Chi Minh City and Vung Tau. To analyze the collected data, Smart-PLS 4 software is
leveraged, and PLS-SEM approach is applied.
Findings: Out of 110 acceptable responses, the research findings indicate the vital
impact of GHRM on improving the ENP of hotel firms. In this relationship, GEB is
identified as having a mediating effect. Effective GHRM practices encourage employees
to perform GEB, thereby contributing to the impact on ENP. Additionally, we also found
that GI does not significantly influence GHRM and ENP in the context of hotel firms in
Vietnam.
Implications: The study contributes to the findings of previous research on the
positive relationship between GHRM and ENP, including GEB. The findings imply the
importance of effective GHRM practices from the early stages to motivate employees to
behave and perform tasks that benefit the ENP of hotel firms.

Limitations/Future research: The current study was conducted in a specific
context, over a short period, with a reasonably small sample size and a limited number of
examined variables. Future studies should broaden the perspective by exploring the
research model in different industry contexts and in other countries. Additionally, it is
recommended to consider a larger sample size and incorporate additional other variables
into the current model | en_US |
