Abstract
This study investigates how Green Intellectual Capital impacts
Economic Performance by integrating the mediator Green Culture and the
moderator Environmental Consciousness, using the intellectual capital-based
theory. This study uses self-administered survey and distributing through
judgmental and snowball sampling method. The quantitative research gathers a
sample of 243 respondents working in Vietnam and utilizing partial least
squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) approach for data analysis.
The finding reveals that green intellectual capital negatively associates with
economic performance. Green intellectual capital significantly relates to green
culture; however, economic performance is not impacted by green culture.
Environmental consciousness is a significant moderator influence on the way
green intellectual capital relates to economic performance. This research is the
first to integrate green culture as mediating variables and environmental
consciousness as moderating variable using PLS-SEM approach to enrich the
understanding green intellectual capital - economic performance association.
This study significantly advances the understanding of green intellectual capital
in Vietnamese SMEs context. Furthermore, the findings shed light on the novel
mechanism through which green intellectual capital can influence economic
performance while examining mediating effect of green culture and the
moderating effect of environmental consciousness.
